Jude’s law is an important step forward for transgender rights in Colorado. The law simplifies the process to update your gender marker on a Colorado driver’s license. It also allows you to get a new Colorado birth certificate showing the gender you identify with instead of updating your previous one. Remember: if the gender change is for a minor the requirements from the Colorado Birth Certificate update also apply here. A parent or legal guardian will need to sign the gender identification letter for the minor. A doctor or mental health care professional will also need to sign a letter saying they no longer identify with their birth gender.
